Dr. David "Gunner" Gundersen
Cindi and I were married in 2002, and we have 4 children: Judah, Ember, Isaiah, and Brooklyn. I grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and began following Christ at age 16. God led me to The Master's College and Seminary where I studied biblical languages (B.A., 2002), pastoral ministry (M.Div., 2006), and systematic theology (Th.M., 2010). During these years, I served at Master's as a Resident Director and Associate Dean of Men. God then transplanted us to Louisville, Kentucky to study biblical theology at Southern Seminary (Ph.D., 2015). In Louisville I also served as Director of Student Life and Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at Boyce College, Southern's undergraduate school. In 2017, our family was thrilled to move to Houston to begin serving with BridgePoint, and we're eager for what the Lord has in store for us!
Tamila and I were married in 2011 and have three children Bear, Toli and Emery. I was born and raised in the central valley of California. At age 13 I repented and turned my life over to Christ. The Lord has shown Himself faithful through the hardships of life. When I was 17 years old my father passed away, but on his deathbed, he proclaimed Christ to hundreds of people who came through our home. It was during this season that I began my long journey to ministry. I went to Fresno State and studied communication (B.A., 2010) and then moved to Louisville, Kentucky to pursue my Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry at Southern Seminary (M.Div., 2015). During this time, I worked as the Director of Event Productions and Event Technology at Southern Seminary. In 2018, we moved to Houston to serve with BridgePoint, where I see God moving among our people to glorify Himself.
Director of Student Ministries
I was raised in the hills and hollows of West Virginia and joined the staff at BridgePoint in June of 2018. One month after coming to Houston, I married my wonderful wife, Haley. We each came to know the Lord in our high school years, and He has used the impact of youth ministry on our lives to ignite a passion for other students to know, love, and obey Jesus and to make Him known in all the world. After sensing a call to ministry, I studied Biblical and Theological Studies at Boyce College (B.A., 2018) and pursued a Master of Divinity at Southern Seminary at the same time (M.Div., 2018). I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for the youth at BridgePoint!
Children's Ministry Director & BELA Director
I graduated from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois with a degree in Elementary Education and later received a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Over the course of my career, I have taught every grade from pre-school to 8th grade and have loved engaging with children at all different developmental stages. I especially enjoy capturing their attention through story-telling, object lessons, puppets and games. I serve as the Children’s Ministry Director and the Director of BridgePoint Early Learning Academy. In both roles I have the privilege of leading an awesome team of teachers and building relationships with families from the Energy Corridor and the families of BridgePoint. My husband David and I met at BridgePoint and were married in 1989. We have three grown children who are the joy of our lives. We love our church for the rich community and the incredible opportunities to grow in our faith and serve God with our gifts.
Elementary Children’s Director
After getting married, my husband Michael and I moved from eastern Pennsylvania to Houston in August 2015. We visited BridgePoint and have been attending ever since! God has richly blessed us through the loving community and the many opportunities to get involved. I am thrilled to be serving in children’s ministry here! I graduated from Geneva College in Pittsburgh with a degree in Human Services (social work). I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Urban Studies/Youth Development. During college, I worked for various children’s programs and urban ministries, developing a passion for teaching children. I am energized by showing kids the love of Jesus and helping to bring Scripture alive to them! In the process, God is drawing me more deeply in love with Him. I am so grateful to be a part of this staff and church family!
Preschool Director & BELA Assistant Director
Working in children's ministry has been a part of my life for the past 20 years. I have discovered the joy in children's ministry fills my heart with a love that can only be explained as a gift from God. My 2 years of college were spent at Sam Houston State University, where I studied Horticulture and Crop Science. I was interested in growing things, but I did not know at the time that God had designed me to be a part of His work growing children spiritually. I am married to Earl and we have 2 grown kids and 2 grandkids. I see God’s handiwork at BridgePoint as our church becomes known for its open arms and acceptance of ALL God's children, young or old, believer or non-believer, sinner or saint.
Director of Women's Ministry
With my eyes on a lucrative career, I earned degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science (B.S.,1989, Grace College). As a young professional woman, I set aside my Christian upbringing and dove head-first into my career and the “good life”. Yet I was frustrated with my efforts to be a truly good person. When God used a Bible study to radically transform my boyfriend (now husband), I was confronted with the compartmentalized life I had been leading. By trusting in the true goodness of Jesus, my life was radically changed as well, and I experienced peace and forgiveness. Dave and I were married in 1996 and have been serving and leading at BridgePoint since. In addition to raising our three teenagers, it is my heart’s joy to be leading women. I love rallying women around a vision and working as a team to share God’s Word, a love for Christ, and a deep connection with one another.
Bobby de Leon
Director of Discipleship & Soul Care
I heard the gospel and experienced a radical Christian conversion while I was in college at the University of Texas in Austin where I obtained a B.A. in psychology. During this time, I had the privilege of participating in a robust collegiate discipleship program that was designed to equip disciples to become disciple-makers. After graduating, I served on staff at Young Life Ministry. Since 2007, I have been counseling people with backgrounds in childhood trauma. I graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.A. in Biblical Counseling. I love my beautiful bride, Kori, and enjoy spending quality and quantity time with Kori and our precious daughter Jade. I am refreshed by taking long prayer walks with God and enjoy spending time with friends, particularly watching Texas Longhorns Football! I am eager to see God working on behalf of His people through BridgePoint’s counseling and discipleship ministries.
During my high school years, the Lord captured my heart and life. The Holy Spirit ignited a fire within me and I became passionate about the One who loves me and saved me. Since then, the Lord and I have walked many roads together. Some were easy, but most were not. No matter the road, He remains constant, true and altogether loving. I received a BA in Marketing and a BA in Computer Information Systems Management from Houston Baptist University in 1991. I have an amazing husband, Geoff, and we have four children: Anna, Aaron, Grace & Faith; son-in-law, Taylor; daughter-in-law, Taryn, and three beautiful grandchildren, Jackson, Mila & Hilton. I love drawing attention to our majestic God through the creative arts and am thankful for the opportunities I have at BridgePoint to curate our beautiful environment and materials for His glory.
On April 30, 2015 I retired from my career with an engineering firm and on May 1, 2015 I embarked on my next step with Christ by joining BridgePoint’s staff! I had been a member of BridgePoint for many years, and I loved teaching four-year-old Sunday School. The biggest thing I learned as a Sunday School teacher was that if we stay in His will, it doesn’t matter what life throws at us. Because we are God’s vessel, He will guide us through life’s storms. I was married to my wonderful husband, Bill, for 34 years until God called him home to heaven in October of 2015. We have four children (Kathlyn, Lee, Shannon and Kasey) and seven grandchildren: Timothy, Karsen, Taylor, Ashley, Aaron, Austin and Andrew. I love spending time with my family and friends and needlepointing. BridgePoint is home for me and I rejoice in the many new people from our diverse community for which BridgePoint has also become home.
I grew up on the east side of Houston in a small town called Mont Belvieu. I came to know the Lord in high school and have strived to use my gifts to build His kingdom ever since. After high school, I went to Boyce College in Louisville, KY where I pursued a degree in Biblical Counseling (B.S 2018) and met my husband, Josh. I was brought back to Texas in June of 2018 when Josh was hired at Bridgepoint as the Director of Student Ministries. One month after coming to BridgePoint, we got married. I was hired at Bridgepoint Early Learning Academy as a teacher in August of 2018 and switched roles to the Administrative Assistant in August of 2019. I also enjoy serving in other ministries throughout the church like singing in the worship band and leading a high school girl’s D-Team on Wednesday nights. I am looking forward to how the Lord uses the many ministries at BridgePoint to expand His kingdom!
IT & Facilities Manager
I am blessed to be married to Crystal and father of 4 boys: Ian, Sklyor, Zachary and Corbin. I gave my life to Christ at the age of 12, constantly seeing Him work in my life. I became a full-time serial entrepreneur at 17 (I started my first business in 5th grade) and never looked back. With 7 companies I have started/lead, I have had the opportunity to be challenged and to learn so much. In September 2013 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. On February 5, 2014 I went on to have an awake craniotomy (brain surgery), removing about 90% of the tumor. I then was given a diagnosis of Astrocytoma Grade II Malignant Brain Cancer, followed up with 6 weeks of radiation and a healthy diet. I spent a year recovering and pondering the next steps as 10% of “Mr Tumor" has remained and unchanged; I broke back into consulting, starting 3 companies (InResponse Holdings, InResponse Health & ProjectIO), a non-profit (CodeGrey) and working with the wonderful team at BridgePoint. I have spent nearly 20+ years in the technology, security, manufacturing and consulting sectors and love applying what I have gained, experienced and learned as I enter any opportunity. I love reading, being a maker, working on cars, space everything, flying (been a pilot since 18, started flying when I was 16) and being the research geek of anything I can get my hand on. And all is due the love & support of the Lord, my wonderful parents and a brave wife who continues to support and survive me and my ventures.
