Dr. David "Gunner" Gundersen
Cindi and I have been married for 14 years, and we have 4 children: Judah, Ember, Isaiah, and Brooklyn. I grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and began following Christ at age 16. God led me to The Master's College and Seminary where I studied biblical languages (B.A., 2002), pastoral ministry (M.Div., 2006), and systematic theology (Th.M., 2010). During these years I served at Master's as a Resident Director and Associate Dean of Men. God then transplanted us to Louisville, Kentucky to study biblical theology at Southern Seminary (Ph.D., 2015). In Louisville I also served as Director of Student Life and Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at Boyce College, Southern's undergraduate school. In 2017, our family was thrilled to move to Houston to begin serving with BridgePoint, and we're eager for what the Lord has in store for us!
Tamila and I were married in 2011 and have two children Timothy Bear and Anatolia Faye. I was born and raised in the central valley of California. At age 13 I repented and turned my life over to Christ. The Lord has shown himself faithful through the hardships of life. At age 17 my father passed away, but on his deathbed, he proclaimed Christ to hundreds of people that came through the house. It was during this season that I began my long journey to ministry. I went to Fresno State and studied communication (B.A., 2010) to prepare myself for seminary. In 2010, I moved to Louisville, Kentucky to pursue my Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry at Southern Seminary (M.Div., 2015). During this time, I worked as the Director of Event Productions and Event Technology at Southern Seminary. In 2018, we moved to Houston to serve with BridgePoint.
Community Life Pastor
God has given me a tremendous family. My wife Celia (who serves as a school nurse at Bunker Hill Elementary School) and I have been married since 1985. We have 4 children – Joel, Emily, Jared and Amy – who we enjoy immensely. It is remarkable watching them grow up and launch out! I attended Texas A & M University (B.S. Biomedical Science, 1982) and Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM, 1988). I love college football, being outside, working around the house and dream of kayaking the Mississippi from end to end.
Director of Student Ministries
I was raised in the hills and hollows of West Virginia and came on staff at BridgePoint in June of 2018. One month after coming to Houston, I was married to my wonderful wife, Haley. We met attending classes at Boyce College in Louisville, Kentucky, and it has been an exciting adventure ever since! We each came to know the Lord in our high school years, and he has used the impact of youth ministry on our lives to ignite a passion for other students to know, love, and obey Jesus and to make him known in all the world. After sensing a call to ministry, I studied Biblical and Theological Studies at Boyce College (B.A., 2018) and pursued a Master of Divinity at Southern Seminary at the same time (M.Div., 2018). We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for the youth at BridgePoint!
Children's Ministry Director & BELA Director
I love children of all ages and especially enjoy capturing their attention through story-telling, object lessons, puppets and games. I graduated from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Il. with a degree in Elementary Education and have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Over the course of my career, I have taught every grade from pre-school to 8th grade and have loved engaging with children at all different developmental stages. Currently, I serve as the Children’s Ministry Director and the Director of BridgePoint Early Learning Academy. In both roles I have the privilege of leading an awesome team of teachers and building relationships with families from the Energy Corridor and the families of BridgePoint. David and I met at BridgePoint and were married in 1989. We have three grown children who are the joy of our lives. We love our church for the rich community and the incredible opportunities to grow in our faith and serve God with our gifts.
Elementary Children’s Director
After getting married, my husband Michael and I moved from eastern Pennsylvania to Houston in August 2015. We visited BridgePoint within the first month and have been attending ever since! God has richly blessed us through the loving community and the many opportunities to get involved. I am thrilled to be serving in children’s ministry here! I graduated from Geneva College in Pittsburgh with a degree in Human Services (social work). I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Urban Studies/Youth Development. During college, I worked for various children’s programs and urban ministries, developing a passion for teaching children. I cannot imagine a better use of my time than showing kids the love of Jesus and helping to bring Scripture alive to them! In the process, God is drawing me more deeply in love with Him. I am so grateful to be a part of this staff & church family!
Bobby de Leon
Director of Discipleship & Soul Care
I heard the gospel and experienced a radical Christian conversion while I was in college at UT Austin where I obtained a B.A. in psychology. During this time, I had the privilege of being raised up under a robust collegiate discipleship program that was designed to equip disciples to become disciple-makers. After graduating, God moved my focus from church-wide discipleship to one-on-one strategic discipleship while I served on staff at Young Life Ministry. Since 2007, I have been counseling people with backgrounds in childhood trauma. I graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.A. in Biblical Counseling. I love my beautiful bride, Kori, and enjoy serving as the Chairman on the Board of Directors for her ministry. I enjoy spending quality and quantity time with Kori and our precious daughter Jade, who we call our “steel magnolia” because she is both strong and sweet. I am refreshed by taking long prayer walks with God and enjoy spending time with friends, particularly watching Texas Longhorns Football!
It was during my high school years that the Lord really got a hold of my heart and life. Those were tremendous years in my early spiritual growth – years I wouldn’t trade for anything. During that time the Holy Spirit ignited a fire within me and I became absolutely passionate about the One who loves me and saved me. Since then, we have walked many roads together. Some were easy, but most were not. No matter the road, He remains constant, true and altogether loving. I received a BA in Marketing and a BA in Computer Information Systems Management from Houston Baptist University in 1991. I have an amazing husband, Geoff, and we have four children: Anna, Aaron, Grace & Faith; son-in-law, Taylor; daughter-in-law, Taryn, and three beautiful grandchildren, Jackson, Mila & Hilton.
Preschool Director & BELA Assistant Director
It only took me 50 plus years to know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Maybe I should say it took 50 plus years for me to listen to what God had to say about what He wanted me to be when I grew up. Working in children's ministry has been a part of my life on & off for the past 20 years. I have grown to discover the joy in children's ministry fills my heart with a love that can only be explained as a gift from God. I thank God for revealing my servant's heart to me... which was an answered prayer. I have also been blessed with an amazing position at Texas Children's Hospital West Campus as a Guest Services Representative, another gift from God. The Lord has been faithful to me and I am eternally grateful and forever in love.
Ander Von Anderson
Drummer at heart, audio engineer by trade. I grew up in a small town called Jones Creek, Texas (about an hour south of Houston) and didn't know Jesus until I was a sophomore at Texas State. I have been super blessed with so many opportunities and doors to the point that I KNOW He is with me beyond measure! I’ve got a lot of goals still left to accomplish, but I am stoked to see His will come alive more than anything.
On April 30, 2015 I retired as Director of Business and Marketing for an engineering firm and on May 1, 2015 I embarked on my next step with Christ by joining BridgePoint’s staff! We had long since been members of the former Spring Branch Community Church and now BridgePoint. For many years I taught four-year-old Sunday School – loved those kids, you learn so very much from them! The biggest thing I learned as a Sunday School teacher was that it is not by my will, but His. If we stay in His will, it doesn’t matter what life throws at us, because we are God’s vessel, He will guide us through. I was married to my wonderful husband, Bill, for 34 years until God called him home to heaven in October of 2015. We have four children, Kathlyn, Lee, Shannon and Kasey and seven grandchildren, Timothy, Karsen, Taylor, Ashley, Aaron, Austin and Andrew. I love spending time with my family and friends and needlepointing.
Office & Technical Assistant
My family and I have been involved in many ministries at BridgePoint (and previously Spring Branch), and I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve on staff. I lived in the midwest - Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio - until my wonderful husband rescued me from the cold winters and brought me to Houston in 1998. I do miss early fall and late spring up north - but nothing at all in between. Charles and I have two daughters, Joy and Katerina. We love taking long walks, messing with computers, watching our menagerie of pets, and playing laser tag. I also like to read and crochet.
I was born in Galveston Texas but was raised in League City. I grew up in a Christian household with both patents as well with a fraternal twin brother named Cory. In coming to know the Lord, I attended the University of Houston-Downtown then later transferred to the College of Biblical Studies where I received a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Through that transition of my life, the Lord called me into ministry. After sensing the call to ministry, the Lord led me to BridgePoint to serve as a youth intern in the summer of 2018. Only being at BridgePoint for a few months, I experienced love from the staff, leaders, youth, and congregation. From their love and support, I knew that BridgePoint was a place I could call home. Now, I am currently serving as an ongoing youth intern working alongside Josh Hall (Director of Student Ministries), to help lead students to Christ. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store not only for the youth but also for the church body here at BridgePoint!”
